Umm possum in yard (read the thingy)?

ok so around 3 30 i went outside to the car and i saw this possum in the driveway just sitting there dazed i think it saw me and it wobbled off slowly.. and it was daytime... and then it went over to this house with no one living in it and it went by there idk what happened after that but i was just in the kitchen around 6 p.m and its still light out since its getting warm out and i saw it again in my NEIGHBORS backyard and they have this huge dog and i just saw the dog chasing him. he was by the road and had his invisible wall thing on so i think the small possum got away. YAY POSSUM anyways idk why but i want to protect the little guy. i think its because i miss my old dog idk anyways do u think theres somthin wrong with him??? possums are nocturnal and him being in the daytime awake is weird . idk if he was rabies he looks fine. im thinking his den or house as i will say it got damaged or destroyed and hes looking for a new one or something or if the weather is nicer but there was snow again so idk.. please help can u tell whats wrong? and how can i help and protect him? thanks soo much. i know im acting like an idiot but idk i feel like i need to help him...
