Anyone know of any way to cause possums to avoid my property short of cutting down a small fig tree?

I filled a small balloon with ammonia, wrapped it in a meat soaked rag. Possum chomped that once and lost his appetite. I see him off property -- no permanent damage, a long memory, though.
