Why do people compare Twilight and Harry Potter?

It's because Harry Potter was the first YA / Middle Grade blockbuster hit for books, and Twilight was the next one. It was more to do with their popularity than their subject matter. It's like when people used to compare Stephen King to Michael Crichton. Don't freak out about it - it's not worth getting angry about.
