Is this Buddhism or Taoism?
The Chinese name is 佛. The worshippers are monks in yellow robes and pray with incense in temples and pagodas. The main god is Guan Yin Pu'sa, or the Goddess of Mercy. Numerous other deities are acknowledged, such as Yu Wang as the supreme ruler and Nu Wa as the creator of humans. There is reincarnation and rebirth and such. The religion is more about teaching and doing good rather than just following a god. Since the main god is not the Indian Buddha (who I believe was the spoiled Prince who sought peace), would this religion still be considered Buddhism? Or is it just a mixture of Buddhism ideas and Taoist traditions?
